It’s Christmas Eve! Tonight is the night when the children will all be snuggled in their beds. They’ll have a hard time sleeping as they await the coming of Christmas morning. But tonight should be a Silent Night. Continue reading

Sometimes we need to just stop and reflect a bit. This is a great song to help with that. Many of the songs I like to listen to are fast, upbeat, and really drive. But this one is a little different, OK a LOT different.
Ever have one of those days that just seem to go on forever? The type of day that makes you wonder why you even woke up. Perhaps you’ve had a string of those kind of days in a row making you wonder why you are even here. Perhaps you just feel broken. A loved one is sick. You just found out that the raise you were expecting is just not going to happen. You can’t pay this month’s bills. You try so hard but just can’t seem to get on top of things. Continue reading
As followers of Jesus we often overlook a huge part of what the bible promises for our lives today. We talk a lot about things like the story of creation, the flood, the burning bush, Jesus’ baptism, His death and resurrection. But truth be told, as important as these are, the key to what Jesus promises us today is His Holy Spirit. Continue reading
A few days ago, I woke up with this song running through my head. Now normally that wouldn’t be a problem, but this happened at around 4am. I was not ready to be awake but I just couldn’t stop singing this song in my head. Continue reading
Good Monday morning! Today we have so many reasons to be thankful for all that God is doing in our lives. That’s why I love this song by Matt Redman titled 10,000 Reasons. As we kick the Monday Blues to the curb, get a little pick-me-up for everything the day has before us.
The title says it pretty simply – 10,000 Reasons. There are so many reasons for us to be thankful, for our hearts to find a reason to rejoice in the presence of God in our lives. There are countless reasons for us to enjoy every moment that we have in life. Continue reading
This week’s MusicMonday post is one of my personal favorites – a song called Free to Worship. I first heard it at a conference that talked about the sacramental presence of Jesus in the world today in his people. The message of this song was so very powerful for me. Check it out below. In the last post we dealt with bad
choices
and the effects they have on us at the core of our day-to-day lives. These bad choices can ostracize us and make us feel unworthy. And if that weren’t bad enough, it’s often difficult to live on the other side of that bad choice. This difficulty is made worse because we continuously go backward fishing. Continue reading
We’ve all done it. We’ve all made a choice that has haunted us for some time to follow. That choice may have been eating two chili dogs right before bed. That choice may have been to yell at our spouse. That choice may have been to break a civil law. No matter the choice we have made, it’s still a bad choice and we have to live the with the consequences. Continue reading
The idea of chasing a storm may seem a bit strange. Storms can wreak havoc on entire communities. They can level cities and demolish landscapes. But there are people who will devote large portions of their lives to chasing down these storms and watching them. They do it so that they can learn more about them. Sure there’s a thrill of the hunt but for them there’s learning to do. Wind speeds, changes in direction, rainfall amounts, pressure changes are some of the things for which they look. Continue reading
Last week, I shared a book that I recently read titled Five Challenges for the Once and Future Church. The book was a quick read and offered good insight into some of the challenges that many churches are facing. While the book itself isn’t a newly published work, it does offer insight that can prove to be helpful as we navigate this new landscape of church in the 21st Century. Continue reading
