What in life gets you going? What brings you energy and passion that can’t be silent? What are those things in life that just put a smile on your face even when you’re not trying to smile? When these things happen in our lives it’s like we break out in a happy dance without even knowing it.
This week’s Music Monday is about that moment. It’s about the moment when you realize the life God has given you is so big and so amazing that you can’t help but do a little “happy dance.” It took me a couple of times listening to this song to catch all of the words but here’s a line that pretty much sums up the entire song –
Oh, it ain’t about how you move, but what moves you
We’re so consumed with what we think we’re supposed to be
That we stop living like we know that we’re free
There are two things in this part of the song that need highlighted. First, it’s not about how you move but what moves you. Don’t be so consumed by getting it all right before you even get started or you’ll never start living this happy dance kind of life. Then it continues right through the rest of the verse with a reminder that we become so consumed with our assumptions of how we need to live that we completely forget what’s really important. We get so trapped in the have to’s and must do’s of life that we forget to just be kind.
Today feel free to let the smile shine through even though everything isn’t perfect. Today let those feet walk with a little bounce because even though things aren’t going exactly as you’d planned someone bigger than you is in control. I get it, it’s a bit of a funny song but I hope it puts a smile on your face and a little pep in your step this morning. Just rememberĀ He done traded our sin for joy and now that joy wants out. Don’t bottle up that joy – just let it out!
