Shelter

Life is filled with ups and downs. In the moments when life is going well, we feel like we’re on top of the world and nothing can take us down. But in the moments when the bottom drops out and life is just falling apart all around us, it’s easy to just throw in the towel and think that things will never get better. But how do you manage the ups and the downs in life? How do you handle the peaks and the valleys of life? Where do you go to just find a little peace and quiet? Where is your shelter when the storms of life come crashing down?  Continue reading

Happy Dance

What in life gets you going? What brings you energy and passion that can’t be silent? What are those things in life that just put a smile on your face even when you’re not trying to smile? When these things happen in our lives it’s like we break out in a happy dance without even knowing it. Continue reading

Here

Ever have that moment when you felt all alone? Ever feel like the weight you’re carrying is too much for you? Ever feel like you’re sinking in the ocean and no one’s around to throw you a life-preserver? Feel like you’re running a race and you just can’t go one more step? Well there’s something you need to know. And it’s all about who’s hereContinue reading

Word of Life

Words are so powerful. They are all around us. And in this day and age our words are especially challenging because we so often send words that are just words on a screen. The power of words is often found in the way they are spoken or the facial expressions that accompany them. But what about written, or typed, words?  Continue reading

Your Hands

Ever wonder why God leaves some prayers seemingly unanswered? Ever feel like you ask for things and just don’t get the answer you expected? Sometimes we treat prayer more like a slot-machine than a conversation. But how does God answer prayer anyway?  Continue reading

Shepherd, Sheep, & Savior

The Bible contains a lot of great nuggets of wisdom, and Luke is one of those writers that just seems to give us extra tidbits of information that make things really interesting. In worship, we’re discussing the stories in the book of Luke known as the lost parables.  Continue reading

Bulletproof

I remember as a child wanting to be Superman. I wanted to be this particular superhero because he was always Superman, even when he was dressed up like Clark Kent. But there was something else about Superman. He was invincible. I remember wanting to be invincible as a child. I wanted the power to have nothing affect me. I wanted to be bulletproof! Continue reading

Beautiful Things

I have to say my favorite time of year is just around the corner. The Fall is the season when the world, in my opinion, is at its peak. Few things are more beautiful than the feel of the cool morning air, the sound of people having fun outside, the color on the trees changing to vibrant shades of orange and red. Few things in life are more precious than the pink and purple highlights in the sky on one of those breathtaking sunsets (or for us morning people a striking sunrise). But one thing is significantly more beautiful than all of these.  Continue reading

Tell Me

I hate being a failure. I hate it when things don’t go the way I have planned in my head. I’m one of those type-A kind of people. We look ahead so far and see things coming often before they actually occur. I’m not psychic by any means. Just part of how God built me. But sometimes when a person like this fails to see something coming, or when the circumstances change, and we fail at something its way to easy to feel like a failure.  Continue reading

Steady Me

Life has a tendency to throw us into a tailspin at times. We get so overrun with emotions that we can’t even find center again. Our calendars fill to the point that we don’t even have an extra minute to our day. Demands of life pull us in a million different directions. Our job isn’t exactly what we thought it was going to be. We have to work with people we want to love but who just seem unloveable.  Continue reading
