Tell Your Heart To Beat Again

maxresdefault-13Sometimes life deals us some pretty hard hits. We wonder why does this kind of thing happen to me. We ask where did God go in the midst of my pain! We yell at God and wonder how he could let something like this happen to me. When some devastations hit our lives, we feel as if we’ll never be the same. It’s like our heart just stops… Continue reading

Ever Be

maxresdefault-12Some days we just need to be reminded of the amazing things that surround us. It’s so easy to overlook the good stuff. It’s easy to take things for granted. It’s way too easy to get so caught up in the everyday things of life that we forget the stuff that really matters. This morning we want to slow things down a bit and be reminded of the reason why we do things we do as followers of Jesus.  Continue reading

Call to Die : Tradition

We all like things that are familiar. When something new pops up
it can be scary. Family is in many ways comforting. When we do
things the way we’ve always done them we kind of know what to
expect. But when we embark on a new endeavor we often don’t know
what to expect. Jesus came and started something new. See how this
new thing impacts you and me today.

F1V3 – Community Building

online-community-networkingIt’s no secret that this is likely the easiest piece but seemingly the most overlooked. We live in a day and age in which community is something that just isn’t all that important. Think about the last time you came home from a long day at work. If you’re like many in my neighborhood, you pull your car in and close the garage door before you even get out of your vehicle. We’ve taken human interaction out of the equation in much of what we do in our day-to-day lives.  Continue reading

Sisters And Brothers

maxresdefault-11Yesterday in worship a little guy from our congregation wanted to sing a song. He’s done it before. Most of the songs he sings fall on the easy side. But yesterday he wanted to sing this song about sisters and brothers. It’s a great song and he did an amazing job. The message of the song is simple – let’s put away some of the differences and start living as sisters and brothers. Let’s start showing the world that we, as Christians are part of a family – a family of God.  Continue reading

F1V3

If you were at the church I pastor, Living Word Church, this past Sunday you might have heard something of three numbers. These numbers are very important to me and I pray they gain the same significance to those in the ministry I serve. Apart these three single digits are really not all that impressive nor important. But when you look at them together and see the impact that these three numbers can have, it’s truly nothing short of miraculous.  Continue reading

Call to Die: Division

In our lives we like to compartmentalize things. We have a place for everything and everything has a place. While that can be helpful, it tends to lead us to think that everything needs to be separate. There’s a great comfort in knowing that somethings can’t be separated. Listen as Pastor Derrick explains how a strong hand can keep things together.

Do Something

West-DoSomethingPicHave you ever been frustrated with the mess that happens in life? Ever angered by the number of people mistreated in our world? Ever think something needs to be done for the thousands of children dying of starvation in the world? Ever ask why doesn’t someone do something? Ever wonder why God hasn’t done something for these terrible situations?  Continue reading

Call To Die: Words

We use them all the time. Sometimes they are spoken with the greatest of emotion. We use them to help others and at times we use them to do others some kind of harm. But how often do we really think about our words? This week Pastor Derrick shares the message of the power of words.

5 Ways To Bless Your Neighbors

maxresdefault-10About a year ago we introduced the concept of Christian Neighboring to the congregation I serve. It was a lot of fun, and we were able to make impact in people’s lives as a result. The goal of Christian Neighboring is not to add numbers to the local church. As a matter of fact we don’t really talk all that much about church attendance or membership. The focus is on Jesus and knowing him.  Continue reading
