Some times the greatest lessons are learned from those who do things wrong. I am a firm believer in the power of truthfulness and honesty. I also believe wholeheartedly that you can learn from both successes and failures. In this week’s message we take a few minutes to learn some pretty powerful messages from life’s failing moments.

The story of Jacob and Esau in the bible has some of the longest lasting effects of any Biblical story. God told their mom Rebekah that two nations were at war within her and that couldn’t be more true! The children that she would give birth to would be the founders of two nations still in existence today. And they still don’t get along all that well.

But the message of the text is that we can learn something from this family. The history of this family is one built on some pretty petty lies. Jacob and Esau’s dad and grandpa both lied about their wives not really being their wives. When we can’t be truthful it demonstrates a brokenness in our character.

A broken character leads to relational conflict and hasty decisions.

This week I take time to unpack the story of Jacob and Esau from a little different perspective. Give it a watch or listen. Then I’d love to hear your thoughts.

When has a brokenness in your character led to damages in key relationships and even hasty decisions?
