Hey there! I’m Derrick.
I’m a husband, a dad to three amazing young people, a pastor who believes Jesus meets us in the real stuff of life, and a coach who loves helping people grow into the leaders God designed them to be. I’m also a guy who enjoys a good bourbon, values the Second Amendment, and will never turn down a quiet evening by the fire pit. Life’s too short not to slow down and breathe in the moments that matter.
This blog exists because the world is noisy, complicated, and often confusing, especially when you’re trying to follow Jesus, lead others well, and keep your own heart steady. I write to make sense of it all. I write because I’ve learned that faith and leadership aren’t two separate lanes… they’re one long road we walk with purpose.
My life has led me through a mix of ministry leadership, coaching conversations, church revitalization, seasons of grief, and moments of deep joy. Along the way, God has shaped my passion for:
Helping leaders avoid burnout and rediscover clarity
Ministry and leadership don’t have to drain you. They can actually grow you if you have the right rhythms.
Guiding churches and families toward healthier patterns of discipleship
Because faith should feel lived, not forced.
Equipping people to navigate real life with courage, wisdom, and hope
No fluff. No clichés. Real talk. Real faith. Real transformation.
On this blog, you’ll find a blend of biblical insight, leadership coaching, reflections on culture, lessons learned from ministry, and the occasional story shaped by a glass of bourbon and the warmth of a fire pit. All of it comes with the same goal:
to help you grow stronger, lead better, and walk closer with Jesus in the everyday moments of life.
If you love honest conversations, practical leadership wisdom, and seeing faith lived out in the mess and beauty of life, then you’ll feel right at home here.
Pull up a chair. Let’s grow together.
